How to achieve a healthy and radiant skin?

How to Achieve healthy and radiant skin?

Your skin plays a vital role in protecting your body and reflecting your overall well-being.

Sorgente Med spa is pleased to provide you with some insight, tips, and routines to help you establish an effective skincare regimen that suits your unique needs.

Fundamental of Skin care are:

Cleansing: The importance of gentle cleansing to remove dirt, makeup, and impurities upon getting up from bed and prior going to sleep at night.

Many patients in my practice only use the regular soap to wash their face.

Regular soap can have a high pH (alkaline) level, which may not be suitable for the delicate skin of the face and neck.

The skin on your face is more sensitive and has a slightly acidic pH, typically ranging from 4.5 to 6.5. Using a soap with a high pH can disrupt the natural pH balance of your facial skin, leading to potential issues such as:

Dryness: Alkaline soaps can strip away natural oils, leaving your skin feeling dry and tight.

Irritation: The disruption of the skin's pH balance can lead to redness, itching, and irritation.

Breakouts: For individuals with acne-prone skin, using alkaline soap can exacerbate acne by over-drying the skin and causing the body to produce more oil to compensate.

Sensitivity: Alkaline soap can make your skin more susceptible to external irritants and environmental damage.

To care for the delicate skin on your face and neck, it's advisable to use a facial cleanser specifically formulated for this purpose. Look for a cleanser with a pH that matches the natural acidity of your skin. These products are often labeled as "pH-balanced" or "gentle" cleansers.

Additionally, consider the following tips for maintaining the health of your facial and neck skin:

Choose a Mild Cleanser: opt for a gentle, sulfate-free facial cleanser designed to cleanse without stripping away essential oils.

Avoid Hot Water: Use lukewarm water when washing your face, as hot water can be harsh and drying.

Pat Dry: After cleansing, pat your face and neck dry with a clean, soft towel instead of rubbing, which can cause irritation.

Moisturize: Apply a suitable moisturizer for your skin type to keep your skin hydrated and protected.

Sunscreen: Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 daily to shield your skin from UV damage.

Exfoliate Gently: If exfoliation is part of your skincare routine, choose a gentle exfoliant suitable for your skin type and avoid overdoing it.

Patch Test New Products: Before introducing a new skincare product, perform a patch test on a small area of your skin to check for any adverse reactions.

Remember that everyone's skin is different, so it's essential to tailor your skincare routine to your specific skin type and concerns. If you have persistent skin issues or concerns, consider consulting Dr. Cagnes for personalized advice and recommendations.
