The role of micronutrients in the course of HPV infection
THE ROLE OF MICRONUTRIENTS IN THE COURSE OF HPV INFECTION
What is HPV?
HPV is a very common virus that can be spread from one person to another person through anal, vaginal, or oral sex, or through other close skin-to-skin touching during sexual activity.
The virus is a leading cause of cervical cancer in women.
How common is HPV?
According to the statistics published by the CDC,”79 million Americans, most in their late teens and early 20s, are infected with HPV”.
Nearly all sexually active people who do not get the HPV vaccine get infected with HPV at some point in their lives.
Anyone who is sexually active can get HPV, even if had sex with only one person. Symptoms can also show years after having sex with someone who is infected. This makes it hard to know when the patient first became infected.
According to the CDC, “Each year, about 45,300 new cases of cancer are found in parts of the body where human papillomavirus (HPV) is often found. HPV causes about 35,900 of these cancers.” source
HPV infection increases the risk of premalignant and malignant conditions of the cervix, vagina, vulva, anus, oral-pharyngeal tract.
What can we do about it?
As of today we do not have any medical treatment available to eradicate the infection from the human body.
The only protection against the virus is represented by our immune system.
Our immune cells are able to recognize the virus as foreign and to fight the infection promoting either the clearance of the virus from the body or, more commonly, forcing the virus into a “dormant state” inhibiting the replication of the virus and its ability to induce cancer.
Our immune system can be supported with over the counter supplements.
A study published in 2007 in the American cancer research journal, indicated that taking a particular combination of vitamins and supplements would assist the patients in the process of clearing the virus from the body by strengthening the immune system as well as protecting the delicate tissue of the genital tract in women.
According to the “Hawaii Cohort Study” published in 2007, a dietary deficiency in some vitamins and minerals such as Vit. A as in carotenoids and in zinc, may be a contributing factor to the inability of the immune system to clear the HPV infection from the system.
Other longitudinal studies have shown the importance of selected micronutrients in the ability of the body to shed the virus.
With this in mind, we have developed a supplement that will support the immune system promoting a faster clearance of the HPV infection from the body.
The supplement can be ordered from “Bioessence pharmacy” that manufactures it by calling (800) 538-1333, please mention referral code # RC8019 when ordering it.
